SVB News and Updates

Expansion Plans

As we move into our third year we are looking to expand our demographics and be a more integrated group both in diversity of ages and ethnic backgrounds. If you know of a group who might be interested in hearing about us or have ideas about how to spread the word, please contact svbmarketing@yahoo.com.

Committees

Team Leaders Needed!

Interested in getting more involved with SVB? Want to make sure you get into the event of your choice, become a Team Leader!

Team leaders would sign up to lead a volunteer event when you can no required amount of events to lead. As a team leader, you would be involved in recruiting volunteers, working with the nonprofit organization, and then coordinating the volunteers on the day of the event. Great opportunities to meet new people and get more involved with SVB.... with very little work involved. (We anticipate a time commitment of 6-8 hours every other month, including the hours volunteering at the event).

We will also take the opportunity to talk to those interested in working behind the scenes.

If you're interested, email svbdirector@yahoo.com.

Please note that it is helpful if you have attended 2-3 events before becoming a Team Leader.

Fundraising/Networking Committee

If you are interested in helping us plan future fundraisers/networking events email: SVBsocials@yahoo.com .

Marketing Committee

We are starting to see our marketing efforts pay off. With the help of volunteers we have attended the BCAE Volunteer Fair, and had another brief blurb in the Improper Bostonian (out this week). There is, however, more to do! Help us think about how to spread the word about this great organization. If you are interested in joining the team email: marketingsvb@yahoo.com.

Donations

We have grown a great deal over the last year and with growth, the expense of running SVB has grown. We need your help to keep things running smoothly. These donations serve the following functions:

  • Pay bills for things such as internet & phone charges, t-shirts, printing, mailing, etc.
  • Plan a “thank you” event for the year’s team leaders, project coordinators and others who give of their time to help run our events and socials (such as our anniversary celebration).
  • Pay for social event deposits, office supplies, etc.

Please remember a few things about SVB when considering your donation:

  • SVB has no paid staff. Everyone here works for free save for an occasional dinner or small gift (see above).
  • If we don’t receive enough donations to pay our bills they are paid out of Directors pocket.
  • Your donation is not tax deductible at this time. We are working on our IRS charitable status, but don’t yet have charitable status.
  • Donations are not required and are not a condition of membership. Donations are 100% voluntary.
  • This is not a big money making opportunity for SVB, we are simply trying to cover our costs and appreciate any and all donations made.

How to Donate

Suggested donation amount is $10, but we are thankful for any amount donated.
Please send your check, payable to “Single Volunteers Boston,” to:

*We also accept “in-kind” donations. That is, gift certificates to restaurants or stores, tickets to concerts or games, etc. that can be used as thank-you gifts or door prizes at socials. Contact svbdirector@yahoo.com if you have any questions.
